Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said that Ludovic Orban is resigning as prime minister. This was reported on February 25 by mediafax.ro. “On Tuesday evening, February 25, Ludovic Orban resigned. The motivation is as simple as clear. A 15-day period when Orban should have formed the Cabinet has passed. Basically, this situation was prompted by PSD, which boycotted the plenary session on Monday, at which the composition and program of the new cabinet should have been considered,” Iohannis stated. The President of Romania added that he would hold consultations with parties on February 26. Recall, on February 5, the Romanian parliament dismissed the Orban government. The initiator of a vote of no confidence was the Social Democratic Party, which accused the Orban government of “privatizing Romanian democracy”. Despite this, the next day Johannis ordered Orban to form a government again, hoping that in this way it would be possible to prompt early elections.
