The Party of Action and Solidarity will not support the Platform Dignity and Truth Party candidate in presidential election campaign this fall. Despite the fact that the agreement between Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase was concluded in the summer of 2019, the chairman of the PDS explains why is this agreement no longer respected, ipn.md reported. According to the 2019 agreement, Andrei Nastase was supposed to head the Ministry of the Interior, and the PAP was supposed to support Maia Sandu for the Prime Minister’s chair, so that eventually the PDS would support Andrei Nastase in the upcoming fall elections. “We discussed this, we would support him if he had greater chances. Now, whether we like it or not, the elections in Chisinau have shown that these chances are not very great. Based on this, the PDS thinks and decides on a candidate who has the chance to win, because it is important to win the election against Igor Dodon,” Maia Sandu said during the broadcast of “Cabinetul din Umbră” (Shadow Cabinet) on Jurnal TV. The PPAP leader, Andrei Nastase, said that his formation proposed to four political parties a political project for the country, but he failed, so the PPDP nominated its candidate. “As a result of local elections, the PPAP spoke of a common candidate continuing the initiatives put forward. This time, given the events of 2016, we proposed an apolitical candidacy, non-partisan. The PPAP proposed a project that would mean uniting around principles, a country’s project in which citizens, rather than political parties, political leaders, would have a central place. At that moment, all our propositions that would have guaranteed us additional chances have failed, so we came up with this offer. The PPAP’s candidate will work to win future elections. We are not fighting for the second round; we are fighting to overthrow Igor Dodon,” Andrei Nastase said.
