Authorities are preparing for an increase in the number of infected with the COVID-19 virus. This was stated by President of Moldova Igor Dodon at a meeting on Wednesday with the leadership of the Chisinau City Hall, managers of municipal services and enterprises. "The situation will not improve in a week or two. In the future, the number of people infected with COVID-19 may increase, so we must be prepared for a much more difficult stage that we will have to face," Dodon said, infotag.md reports. "Creating additional quarantine centers, opening regional laboratories in Balti, Cahul, Comrat, Edinets and the Transdniestrian region, as well as additional places in hospitals, are being discussed. "A field hospital is being deployed now in one of the MoldExpo pavilions, on an area of five thousand square meters. After the meeting, the president and mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, visited the center where military men were installing equipment. "Only by joint decisive measures can we overcome these challenges. Especially it should be borne in mind that Chisinau has the highest risk of becoming infected with the virus, taking into account the concentration of the population. Almost one million people, or one third of the population of Moldova, live in the capital, a significant part of infected patients are transported and treated here, the president said. Speaking on one of the TV channels the day before, the Minister of Health Viorica Dumbraveanu noted that the situation with the spread of a pandemic in the Republic of Moldova can be worse than the doctors predict. Authorities were preparing to receive up to 2 thousand infected people, but now they are preparing to receive up to 3 thousand infected people. At the same time, WHO warned that up to 28 thousand infected people can be registered in Moldova.
