Ukraine supports the UN Global Humanitarian Response Plan, which aims to provide assistance for COVID-19 fighting.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a telephone conversation with UN Secretary General Antoniu Guterres. The head of state website stated.
The key issue was the UN role in fighting the coronavirus pandemic in the world and providing support for Ukraine. The President thanked the Secretary General for his efforts within crisis issues.
In particular, the head of state emphasized that Ukraine supports the UN Global Humanitarian Response Plan, which is aimed at assisting in countering COVID-19 and thanks to which our state will be able to receive financial support.
“It is important for Ukraine to receive financial support under this plan in the amount provided for $ 16.5 billion,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.
The interlocutors also discussed the possibilities to assist Ukraine fighting the pandemic.
“We ask you to assist in attracting WHO’s capabilities to coordinate the cooperation of Ukrainian virologists who work on the coronavirus vaccine with foreign partners to consolidate relevant international efforts,” the President of Ukraine said.
Earlier it was reported that the IAEA sent a shipment of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Dozens of laboratories around the world including Ukraine will receive diagnostic machines and kits, reagents and other equipment.
