After the presidential election, the chairman of parliament post, occupied currently by the Party of Socialists chairman Zinaida Greceanii, will be ceded to the Democratic Party. This was stated by President Igor Dodon on the air of N4 TV Channel. Dodon said he was not considering resignation of the current government, led by Prime Minister Ion Chicu, “until the end of the current parliament’ mandate.” This statement was made by Dodon in the context of the obligation to the Democratic Party stipulated in the Coalition Agreement to cede one of the two posts to this party: the speaker of parliament or the prime minister.   “After the presidential election, we will sit down and discuss one of these two positions with the PDM. I will do my best to retain my former adviser Ion Chicu as prime minister under the mandate of the current parliament (until 2023 - Ed.),” Igor Dodon said on Tuesday on air of N4 TV channel. The obligation to provide the Democratic Party with one of the functions - the chairman of the parliament or the prime minister, is stipulated in the Coalition Agreement between the Party of Socialists and the Democratic Party, signed on March 16, 2019.
