This was announced by the head of state at today's press briefing following a meeting with the country's top leadership.

President Igor Dodon said that he would submit a proposal to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to set November 1 as the date of the presidential election.

According to the head of state, he made such a proposal in order to avoid speculation that the presidential election could be postponed.

“There are suggestions that we will try to postpone the presidential election until the next year or take other steps to maintain our posts as long as possible. To exclude these speculations, I decided to propose that the parliament set November 1 as the presidential election's day,” Dodon said.
