Socialist deputies Vlad Batrincea and Vasile Bolea said they would file complaints with the Prosecutor General’s Office regarding MP Yuri Renita. On Monday, May 18, he posted a video in which Igor Dodon appears with Vladimir Plahotniuc and Serghei Iaralov, agreeing with the latter to send a package with money supposedly for salaries to PSRM employees, nokta.md reports with reference to cotidianul.md. Vlad Batrincea accused Iuri Renita of having smuggled cigarettes when he served as ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania. The socialist said that he would send a request to Attorney General Alexandru Stoianoglo the following day. “Mr. Renita, your president is Mr. Plahotniuc. We understand very well why this video was published via you, at a time when the Attorney General made certain announcements regarding bank thefts and concessions at the airport ... Mr. Renita, pay attention to a request tomorrow that I will send to the Attorney General's Office, where you will explain how well Winston cigarettes were sold in Romania, and how you, as Plahotniuc’s ambassador in Romania, were involved in smuggling. And you will go and write explanations to the Prosecutor General’s Office,” Vlad Batrincea stated. In response, Renita said that “tomorrow” he would sue Batrincea for “insinuations and slander”. Socialist Vasile Bolea was alarmed by Renita’s accusations that he had donated PSRM money from illegal financial sources related to the “operation in the Bahamas”. Bolea stated that he had received confirmation from the CEC that he did not donate money to the presidential campaign of Igor Dodon in 2016 and that he would write an appeal to the Prosecutor General in the name of Renita. The socialist statements were preceded by Renita’s critical speech against President Dodon today from the rostrum of the Parliament whom he urged to resign.
