The extradition of Vladimir Plahotniuc to Moldova does not only depend on the Moldovan side, but also on American partners. Igor Dodon said this in an interview with Radio Free Europe. The head of state called “frivolous” that, on the one hand, in America Plahotniuc is called a bandit, and on the other hand, they ask for a “piece of paper” to send him to Moldova, aif.md reported. "Strategic partners don't do that. They don't need paper for the paper’s sake. They can solve problems, given the strategic partnership. Let's be honest. I respect our strategic partners. The US State Department says Plahotniuc is a gangster. Others say that “He is a bandit, but we need a paper.” Seriously? No. These are geopolitical interests, which are based on political struggle in the Republic of Moldova. That's it,” he said. Dodon stressed that he respects all the strategic partners of Moldova and hopes that they will act on the basis of bilateral relations, not on personal interests. “Most citizens hope for this but, they ask me when we meet what are the Americans going to do, since people do not understand it. I say: “Ask them, ask Maia Sandu.” If we could extradite Plahotniuc, a lot would change. The investigation of billion’s theft would advance faster."- the president said.
