On Thursday, November 12, the “For Moldova Parliamentary Platform”, which consists of 15 MPs presented legislative initiatives saying it intends to promote in parliament. Representatives of the platform again urged their fellow MPs to return to work to fulfill promises made to citizens. Shor party deputy Petru Jardan presented three bills, especially important in the context of the epidemic. The first initiative concerns creation of mobile social pharmacies. The deputy recalled that there are no pharmacies in hundreds of settlements and that people - pensioners and mothers with children have to walk several kilometers to the nearest pharmacy. “We propose to change the legal framework regulating the activities of mobile social pharmacies. Large pharmacy chains will put on routes cars equipped with refrigerators and other necessary equipment meant to arrive in villages on schedule. That’s the way we will provide citizens with access to medicines,” Petru Jardan said. He recalled that the Shor faction registered this initiative more than four months ago but it is still being blocked. The second priority bill is to provide pensioners with medicines free of charge or at reduced prices. “Hundreds of thousands of pensioners who have worked all their lives for their country live below the poverty line. Providing them with free medicines should be an absolute state priority,” Jardan said. The platform “For Moldova” insists as well on adopting the bill to strengthen the status of doctors. The initiative assumes that doctors will be given equal rights with the military and police. “In the current crisis, this law would motivate medical personnel,” Petru Jardan said. He recalled that the parliament is the most important authority in the country and called on deputies from other factions to return to work. “People have chosen us to work for the country’s good. But over the past two months, not a single law has been adopted. The deputies were not at all elected to be engage in election campaigns and political struggle. Everyone should return to work and bring the country out of the crisis,” Jardan said to his colleagues. “For Moldova” platform Deputy Sergiu Sirbu, in turn, presented legislative initiatives aimed at fighting corruption. He recalled the proposal to create an anti-corruption court and projects involving the direct election of judges and prosecutors and the establishment of jury courts. “The guilt or innocence should be determined by ordinary people who have nothing to do with the justice system, chosen at random but transparently, as is the case under the Anglo-Saxon legal system used in the United States,” Sergiu Sirbu said. Ruxanda Glavan noted the importance of social bills and urged MPs to put citizens' interests above political ones. “It's time for the deputies to return to legislative activity. For people, party ambitions do not matter, Covid cannot be cured with promises and you cannot pay utility bills by means of likes and comments of paid trolls on Facebook. People need specific actions and they expect them from each of us,” Ruxanda Glavan concluded. The “For Moldova” platform purpose was to promote constructive dialogue in parliament at the interests of citizens. A group of independent deputies and the Shor party faction joined the platform. The platform is open to other legislators, regardless of their political beliefs.
