The Socialist Party (PSRM), which previously proposed Mariana Durlesteanu for the post of Prime Minister, is ready to consider other candidates. In particular, the candidacy of the Dignity and Truth Platform (DA) party leader Andrei Năstase. On February 24, the leader of the PSRM faction, Corneliu Furculita, said this on the air of NTV Moldova.
Furculita noted that Durlesteanu still agrees to become a candidate for prime minister. However, according to Furculita, PSRM is ready to consider other candidates, in particular, the candidacy of the leader of the Action and Solidarity Platform party, Andrei Nastase.
"There may be other proposals from parliamentary factions - either to support the candidacy of Mariana Durlesteanu, or to nominate another candidate. We are ready to discuss them. We all want specificity. I'm talking about Andrei Nastas. He and his faction should speak up and clearly say that the faction proposes his candidacy, how many deputies can sign in his support and also urge others to sign and tell whether they accept signatures from one or another faction. And then a way out is found, regardless of whether the president nominates a candidate or not, she has full picture when nominating a parliamentary majority candidate. Of course, we come to the conclusion that the parliament will not be dissolved, because a solution has been found," Furculita said.
The PSRM MP noted that depending on Sandu's actions, there are several ways out of the political crisis.
"If she acts in accordance with the Constitution, then she is obliged, according to the decision of the Constitutional Court, to resume consultations with parliamentary factions, to state the presence of a majority (…) If she does not nominate a candidate, the parliament will have the opportunity to work with this government, and the country will be governed and salaries will be paid," the PSRM MP said.
Recall,
Nastase announced the day before that DA is starting negotiations with pro-European parliamentary factions to find a way out of the current crisis. "We have already started the necessary democratic procedures to discuss the current situation with the leaders of the pro-European parliamentary parties. First of all, with PAS, and then with other parties," Năstase added.
Following the Constitutional Court's decision to declare unconstitutional the decree of President Maia Sandu on Natalia Gavrilita's repeat nomination as prime minister, Andrei Nastase said that the DA Platform is ready to take responsibility for a new cabinet of ministers formation.
