Romania will continue to support the European course of the Republic of Moldova and remains the main partner for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova. This was stated by the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, who met with the President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu in Bucharest, ipn.md reports. A press release from the Romanian President reads the Romanian head of state underscored Romania's steady support to manage the COVID-19 pandemic. Klaus Iohannis noted that in 2021 Romania donated medical and protective equipment from COVID-19 to Moldova in the amount of 2.3 million euros, as well as more than 200 thousand vaccines, and at the next stage, 6 thousand tons of diesel fuel will be donated to Moldovan agricultural producers. At the same time, President Klaus Iohannis reaffirmed support for the reform program promoted by President Maia Sandu in the spirit of the Bilateral Strategic Partnership and privileged relationship between the two countries. Maia Sandu, in turn, expressed gratitude for the support provided by Romania, especially in the difficult context caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and praised Romania's support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova, stressing that she would continue efforts to implement the reform program, in a democratic and European spirit. The two presidents agreed to continue the bilateral dialogue at high level to deepen cooperation in several areas, especially with regard to bilateral projects of strategic importance, with an emphasis on energy, transport, education and health. The main goal of this cooperation is to ensure sustainable development of the Republic of Moldova and its irreversible connection to the European area. On April 20, after lunch, Maia Sandu met with Romanian Prime Minister Florin Citu, Romanian Senate President Anca Dragu and President of the Chamber of Deputies Ludovic Orban.
