Parliamentary Vice President Mihai Popsoi says July 4 is the closest date for early parliamentary elections.
According to him, the elections should be organized as soon as possible to ensure that external funds are unblocked, a situation that external financial institutions are considering in September. On the other hand, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Alexandru Slusari does not believe that the government can be elected in such a short time and says that 2021 is a lost year from a financial point of view,

According to Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mihai Popshoi, if the established state of emergency is declared unconstitutional, President Maia Sandu will sign a decree dissolving parliament as soon as possible so that elections can be organized in July.
“I am sure that we will be able to elect the government by August, because September is the deadline for signing a contract with the EU and the IMF to receive money. We will be able to bring this money and provide citizens with support that has not been provided throughout the entire pandemic. July 4 is the closest date for early elections. The sooner the elections are held, the sooner we will achieve normality and stability,” Mihai Popsoi said during the Punctul pe Azi program on TVR Moldova.
On the other hand, the DA Platform representative, Alexandru Slusari, says that the elections should be held as soon as possible, because without a full-fledged executive body that will negotiate external loans, the country risks going bankrupt.
“2021 is a lost year in terms of unblocking foreign aid. I do not believe in miracles and in the fact that a government will be elected 10 days after the elections. Many laws with strong budgetary impact are now being passed, the budgetary situation is critical. The subsidizing process in agriculture is already blocked because there is no money. I learnt from the Ministry of Finance, that from June 1 only salaries and pensions will be paid. From this point of view, we need to elect a government as soon as possible,” Deputy Chairman of the Parliament Alexandru Slusari said.
According to the Election Code, early parliamentary elections can be organized no less than 60 days after the dissolution of parliament, but no later than 3 months from the date of dissolution.
