The European Union is the main trade partner of the Republic of Moldova, this is confirmed by Expert-Grup Independent Analytical Center, which presented an infographic showing the importance of the European market for the country. In 2020, the share of exports from the Republic of Moldova to the EU countries amounted to 67% of the total export volume. As to confectionery, fats, oils and products from vegetables and fruits, more than 80% of the products belonging to these categories were exported by the Republic of Moldova to the European Union market, ipn.md reports. Direct investments from the European Union dominate the Moldovan economy; as of early 2020, their share accounted for about 71% of the volume of investments. At the end of last year, direct investments from the European Union in the Republic of Moldova exceeded US $ 3 billion. The main sectors of the Moldovan economy that received direct investments from the EU were financial activities, trade, processing industry, information technology and communications, energy sector, real estate transactions, construction. To compare, the CIS countries have invested the most in energy, transport and warehousing, trade, processing industry, financial activities and other sectors.
