Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent discussed the settlement of the Transdniestrian conflict and the withdrawal of foreign troops and ammunition from Moldova. The interlocutors noted that "to resume the process of withdrawal of foreign troops and ammunition from the territory of Moldova, a constant and transparent dialogue is necessary - both with interested parties and within the framework of international specialized organizations,"  infotag.md reported. According to the report, Ciocoi welcomed the readiness of the American side "to support joint efforts to find a comprehensive and viable solution to the Transdniestrian problem, based on the observance of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders." During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the support of the US authorities for democratic processes in Moldova, the development and strengthening of Moldovan-American relations in various fields, the pandemic crisis, the situation in Eastern Europe. The Foreign Minister stressed the importance of American assistance in ensuring continuous processes of modernization of the country, in developing the economy, strengthening democratic institutions, fighting corruption, promoting justice reform, improving the investment climate, as well as the prospects for developing and strengthening the Strategic Dialogue through concrete actions between the Republic of Moldova and the United States. "In conclusion, the parties discussed the topic of early parliamentary elections, the efforts of the Moldovan authorities to conduct them successfully and ensure a democratic, free and transparent electoral process," the report says.
