Sandu Will Visit Rome at the President of Italy Invitation: Meeting with the Diaspora Is Planned

President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu will pay an official visit to Rome on June 18-20 at the invitation of his Italian counterpart. The head of state will meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella. The officials will discuss cooperation in various fields, trade relations, as well as the situation of the Moldovan diaspora in this country,  jurnal.md reported. “Special attention will be paid to the bilateral legal framework, in particular, the Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Italian Republic on the recognition of documents on education and in the field of social security,” the presidency said in a statement. The agenda also includes meetings with President of the Senate Maria Casselati, President of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico; Pierro Fassino, Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Chamber of Deputies; members of the Moldova-Italy Friendship Group in the Senate; Mayor of Rome Virginia Ruggie. Maia Sandu also plans meeting with diaspora representatives. Italy is the country with the largest Moldovan community in Europe.
