US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Dereck J. Hogan met today with PAS leader Igor Grosu. They discussed the political situation in the country and early parliamentary elections. Igor Grosu thanked the US Ambassador for the support provided to Moldova, stating that this year the country has the opportunity to enter a new period of development, realitatea.md reports. “Today I had a conversation with the US Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova Dereck J. Hogan. I thank Ambassador Hogan on behalf of all citizens for the continued support of the United States over the years. We discussed the political situation in the country and the July 11 parliamentary elections. We all want free and fair elections so that people can vote freely wherever they are. In 2021, Moldova has a great chance to enter a period of stable development, economic growth, openness, accumulation and construction. The Republic of Moldova needs  support of the United States and the American people, counts on it, as well as on the further development of our country, the reform of justice and the strengthening of democracy,” Grosu said. Note that recently, the US Ambassador has often visited offices of different parties in the context of parliamentary elections, as well as some government agencies involved in the process of organizing the elections. The last visit of the US ambassador to the Central Election Commission caused a scandal, when the communists and socialists accused Hogan of involvement in the internal affairs of the state and putting pressure on decision-makers in these organizations.
