U.S. President Joe Biden intends to appoint Kent Doyle Logsdon as the new U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Moldova. This was reported on July 14 on the White House website. Kent Doyle Logsdon is a career Foreign Service member. Previously, he held the post of Senior Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Energy Resources of the U.S. Department of State and was deputy head of mission at the U.S. Embassy to Berlin. Prior to that, he served as Director of the Office for Russia Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and served at the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, Kyiv, Bangkok, Almaty, Islamabad, and Stuttgart. Logsdon earned his MA from the University of Virginia and his BA from the University of Notre Dame. Dereck Hogan, the current US Ambassador to Moldova, took office in October 2018.
