The chairman of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Pavel Filip, intends to resign in the fall after convening an extraordinary congress of the party. However, members of the party's executive bureau dissuaded him from such a step in the near future, so that the DPM would not be abandoned to its fate for the second time. Philip told about this on July 22 on the air of the program Puterea a Patra on N4. "Early on the second day after the elections, I convened the executive bureau of the party in an expanded format, that is, involving the chairmen of regional party organizations. I said at the meeting that, as the chairman of the party, I take responsibility for the result that the DPM received in the elections. I also expressed my opinion on the need to convene the National Political Council of the party on Saturday, where we will discuss holding an extraordinary congress in the fall, at which I will resign," Filip said. Filip said that after his announcement, all those present unanimously stated that this decision would be wrong. "Almost one hundred percent of those who participated in this meeting said that it wouldn’t work that way, that we would feel left to the mercy of fate for the second time. Emotions aside, we must analyze well what happened, analyze, develop scenarios for the future, strategies, and then we will make a decision," Filip said. As stated further, he feels responsible for the party, and " it would perhaps be easier for him to say goodbye to everyone." "But I think I shouldn't leave people I know so well, excellent people. To make it clear: Filip is not holding on to the chair of the party's leader, but I think there will be no queue for the post of chairman of the Democratic Party now. And I am sure that it will be absolutely right to make this decision together with colleagues," Filip said. It should be noted that in the early parliamentary elections held in Moldova on July 11, the Democratic Party won 1.81% of the vote.
