Veaceslav Platon was supposed to appear today at the court hearing on the joint cases on the withdrawal of money from insurance companies and an attempt to bribe the officers of the Panther special forces.
If he fails to appear, he may be put on the international wanted list with issuing a warrant for his arrest. Platon was last seen in London, publika.md reports
On August 9, he confirmed that he was in the UK, not saying when he would return to Moldova and whether he would appear in court. Some media say that he intends to ask for political asylum.
Minister of Justice Sergei Litvinenko shares this opinion. When asked if Platon could ask for political asylum in the UK, he replied: "We do not rule out this. I have this information from some people."
Veaceslav Platon left Moldova on July 18. Then his lawyer Ion Cretu said that his client left to resolve personal issues and will return in ten days.
