Prime Minister of Moldova Natalia Gavrilita said in the program Politics with Nataliei Morari on TV8 that a new wave of coronavirus infection is expected in Moldova.
According to her, the virus will be more infectious this time, due to the Delta strain,
diez.md reports.
"The incidence outdoors is lower compared to that indoors. We recommend that some of the lessons be held outside when the weather is fine. We want to minimize the contamination risks for children," the prime minister said.
According to Gavrilita, "the Delta strain is much more contagious, which means that people will get sick faster than before."
During the broadcast, she presented a graph illustrating that Moldova will face the strongest wave of 3,000 coronavirus infections per day in the coming months. The red line on the diagram indicates the period in which we are now. The last wave covered February-March 2021. Thus, according to WHO forecasts, more than 3000 cases per day can be registered in Moldova in October-November.
In this regard, the Prime Minister notes, "These predictions can come true if we do not change anything and introduce stricter rules to contain the virus. We make decisions based on scientific evidence."
Gavrilita also responded to criticism that low-income teachers do not have the money to take COVID-19 tests at their own expense. "Teachers can be vaccinated for free. They may endanger students and their relatives," the head of the Cabinet said.
Recall, the Ministry of Education informed that currently 450 educational institutions had reported a 100% vaccination of teachers.
