Former MP Alexandru Slusari said that the “National Arena” situation is becoming more and more alarming, and the government should formulate an action plan on this issue as soon and clear as possible. According to the politician, the company already has debts in the amount of more than 1.5 million lei and at any time its accounts can be blocked by the tax service, reports unimedia.info “The National Arena situation is becoming more and more alarming. The Government needs to formulate a very clear vision and action plan for this facility as soon as possible. The company already has debts of more than 1.5 million lei. Accounts can be blocked by the tax service at any time. This year’s budget does not provide for covering these costs, which will increase, as from December 1, the Turkish partner no longer provides security for the building. At the same time, the management board of the company refused to preserve the facility. 4 out of 5 members of the Council have recently been replaced due to resignations. Employees of the Public Property Agency do not want to work in this institution. Next year, about 10 million lei is needed for the maintenance of the facility. Plus, about 40 million lei for the construction of access roads and landscaping of the adjacent territory. There are some expenses not provided for in the draft budget for 2022, in addition to the amounts that are expected to be paid to the Turkish company for the construction of the Arena. More than 3 million euros will be paid annually from the budget. The Arena cannot be operated without access roads. The asset is not registered in the cadaster. The conflict with the Turkish side is becoming increasingly obvious. They claim that the signing of the final acceptance certificate is delayed by the Moldovan side, and insist on paying installments for the work performed. Therefore, the risk of losing 59 hectares of mortgaged land increases. Plahotniuc’s trap is getting tighter and tighter. Especially amid the inaction of the Prosecutor’s office, which still has not seen anything criminal in this scheme, launched in 2018 in a hurry, without any deep analysis of economic opportunities, with the loss of 69 hectares of agricultural land, repeated violations of urban planning legislation and a very suspicious tender organized for one participant with whom an agreement unfavorable for the state of the Republic of Moldova was signed”, Slusari said. On March 5, 2021, the deputy of the Dignity and Truth Platform, Alexandr Slusari, published an information note from the Prosecutor General’s Office stating that “a group of identified and unidentified persons initiated actions to intentionally create conditions for the theft of assets as a result of the implementation of a public-private partnership agreement for the design and construction of the Chisinau Arena”.
