The Chisinau delegation led by Finance Minister Dumitru Budianschi and Governor of the National Bank Octavian Armasu had bilateral meetings with officials of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Also, meetings were held with representatives of the World Bank Group (WBG), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and members of the IMF/WB Constituent Assembly during the annual spring meetings in Washington (USA) from April 19 to 24, moldpres.md reports.
The discussions were focused on program implementation with the International Monetary Fund, economic situation in the world and Moldova, bilateral cooperation, consequences of the war in Ukraine, fight against inflation, etc. Representatives of the Republic of Moldova had meetings with a number of officials from these institutions.
The topics touched upon in this format also focused on the impact of the armed conflict in Ukraine on the macroeconomic situation, measures to reduce inflationary pressure and support for Ukrainian refugees in Moldova.
They also discussed the reform agenda in Moldova's banking sector, which proved its sustainability during the recent crises, as well as the development of the recently launched Twinning project meant to consolidate our financial system.
The heads of the Lithuanian, Belgian and Dutch central banks showed openness and support for the reforms carried out by the National Bank of Moldova.
The spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank represent a great opportunity to exchange experiences and views of different countries on economic development and financial stability in the context of current and long-term regional and global developments.
