This issue will be discussed at a meeting of the EU defense ministers next week.
The European Union will discuss the launch of a large-scale training program for the Ukrainian military in neighboring countries, European diplomatic Chief Josep Borrell stated.
At a news conference in the northern Spanish city of Santander, Borrell said the issue will be discussed next week at a meeting of EU defense ministers in Prague.
“It will surely be a big mission,” he said, adding that “any mission has to match the level of the conflict.”
Military equipment and intelligence provided by the United States and Western Europe have helped the Ukrainian military slow down, but not stop, the advance of Russian forces in eastern Ukraine and along the Black Sea coast.
“It seems reasonable that the war that is going on and is likely to continue will require efforts beyond materiel supplies,” Borrell said.
“That is what is being discussed by member states and will be discussed at the political level next week,” he added, without going into detail.
