Moldovan Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii said Thursday that the department’s budget in 2023 will be 1.697 billion lei, a 50% increase over 2022. He wrote on social media that the defense department’s budget next year “will amount to 0.55% of the country’s GDP,” reports infotag.md “All budget employees, including military personnel, will receive a monthly salary increase of 1,300 lei. Thus, for soldiers and sergeants the raise will amount to about 16-20% of their salaries, and for the officer corps – about 10-15%,” the Minister posted. The Defense Minister believes that this level of funding for the Defense Ministry will make contract service attractive, and the agency itself will be able to effectively reform the national army.
