The Executive Secretary of the Party of Socialists, Vlad Batrincea, condemned the words of the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, about the possible revision of the neutral status of the country.
In his opinion, such statements drag Moldova “into certain processes” which can be dangerous for the country. He said this today in the program “New Week with Anatolie Golea”, reports tv8.md.
Batrincea believes that all issues concerning neutrality should be discussed with citizens, experts and political parties inside the country.
“For several months, such statements have been made quite often by Maia Sandu’s colleagues in the party. All these things happen for a reason. First of all, we are outraged that Madam Sandu makes such statements concerning the fate of the state while being outside the country,” Batrincea said.
According to him, Sandu has changed her rhetoric regarding Moldova’s neutral status because of the influence of external partners.
“Since February 24, she has repeatedly stated that neutrality for Moldova is a necessary measure. We do not understand at all what has happened in recent months. It is definitely the influence of Madam Sandu’s partners,” said Batrincea.
He expressed his belief that Moldova should “strengthen its neutrality” and seek its recognition by international organizations. According to Batrincea, the Moldovan authorities need to conduct balanced diplomacy in order "not to become hostages of very serious global games.
