There is no direct military danger for Moldova, but Russia is waging a hybrid war against us. Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii said this in an interview with AFP. “There is no immediate military threat to Moldova now, but there are other kinds of dangers that affect the security of the country, I mean hybrid warfare,” tv8.md quoted the defense minister as saying, citing Agerpres. According to him, Russia is trying to create a tense situation in the society through various disinformation and propaganda. And the recent protest rallies prove that. Nosatii notes that Russia seeks to change the political order, to destabilize and topple the state power. On March 10, John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator of the White House National Security Council, stated that the United States did not see a direct military threat to Moldova, but that the administration believed that Russia was seeking to weaken Moldova, provoke an uprising and install a Russian friendly government there. According to U.S. intelligence, the people behind the actions have links to Russian special services. The eventual goal of the protests is to dismantle the current democratic government and install a pro-Russian administration.
