As of today, there is no the government overthrow threat and taking power by the pro-Russian forces in the Republic of Moldova (RM). It can be said that Chisinau managed to repel a powerful internal political attack inspired by Moscow. The rallies paid for by the Kremlin against rising prices in general and high prices for utility services in particular did not turn into large-scale riots across the country. However, Russia will certainly continue to use local pro-Russian forces (primarily, communists and the ?OR Party) to criticize the President of the Republic of Moldova Maya Sandu and her foreign policy course - joining the EU, rapprochement with NATO, diversification of hydrocarbon and electricity supplies, full and unconditional withdrawal of the Russian military contingent from the territory of Transnistria. The spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (Strasbourg, April 24-28, 2023) is currently underway. There was a discussion of Russia's role in increasing tensions in Moldova on April, 27. This event was symbolic, because the Russian delegation to PACE is now absent (the membership of the Russian Federation, as an aggressor state, was temporarily suspended). IN such a way, other PACE member countries sent a telling signal to Moscow: they say, we see what you are doing to make life difficult for Chisinau, however, you will not succeed! Against this background, the foreign policy departments of Moldova and Russia have been exchanging ?unfriendly moves? for several months now, declaring certain diplomats and officials persona non grata. Moreover, on April 20, the Information and Security Service of Moldova issued an order to block all Russian media on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, the world press published a plan of the Russian authorities (prepared, most likely, before the start of the war in Eastern Europe) to return Moldova to the control of Moscow. According to the plan, this country was supposed to become a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) by 2030, and a powerful Russian influence should be ensured in Moldova itself. According to Moldovan and European observers, it is now impossible for the Kremlin to implement this plan. Moldova is slowly but steadily becoming a full member of the United Europe. At the same time, the President of the Republic of Moldova M. Sandu expressed confidence that the Kremlin would continue to try to bring pro-Russian representatives to power in Chisinau in order to make Moldova a part of the ?Russian world?. Moscow's method is to sow administrative chaos in the Republic of Moldova, cause a significant drop in the standard of living, encourage various corrupt practices, discredit the current government and support pro-Russian and corrupt politicians to promote anti-European narratives. M. Sandu did not rule out that, in case of transformation of Moldova into a Russian protectorate, Moscow would like to place some nuclear weapons in Moldova (similar to what it plans to do on July 1 this year in Belarus). At the same time, M. Sandu assured that Chisinau was making maximum efforts to neutralize this attempts and plans of Moscow.
