A modern military base will be built near Chisinau to train the national army. This was announced by the ministry of defense chief Anatoli Nosatii on RliveTV’s Rezoomat. Moldova, he said, has started a process to modernize the National Army which includes both buying military hardware and equipment and ensuring better working conditions of the military. To this end, a military base will be built near Chisinau, in line with all European standards. The construction of the new military base will take three to five years. Funds for the project were allocated from the state budget. “We’re talking about creating the infrastructure from scratch to allow the military unit to be housed according to modern standards. We want those who wish to be employed in the National Army to have decent working conditions, with modern classrooms, gyms, and simulators. In addition, we want to provide good conditions for the storage of equipment, which we plan to receive in the near future,” the minister explained. In 2023, the state budget allocated 1.7 billion lei for defense, which is 0.55% of GDP. The sum is 650 million lei more compared to 2022.
