Vlad Filat on “Demographic Disaster”: No Future without People

The depopulation of Moldova has reached catastrophic proportions, and the authorities have to “mobilize all intellectual capabilities while shaping solutions and actions to stop this demographic disaster”. According to deschide.md, this was stated by PLDM leader Vlad Filat in his Facebook message. “Maia Sandu, Igor Grosu, Dorin Recean and the whole PAS, get out of the crystal ball! Immediately call on all the national intellectual capacities to determine solutions and actions to end this demographic disaster! Otherwise, nothing matters anymore, neither the National Assembly nor the European Political Community Summit, nor even joining the EU, a country without people has no future,” the ex-premier wrote. He also attached the results of last year’s study by the National Employment Agency regarding the ongoing reduction of the labor force in the Republic of Moldova. The document shows that in 2022 the number of employees in the Republic of Moldova decreased by 37 thousand compared to the previous year. For 2023, the forecast is even bleaker, indicating the reduction of another 40,000 employees in the Republic of Moldova.
