The Moldovan Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador because of the statement made by the acting head of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo. Commenting on the shelling of the Chongar Bridge, he said that Russia knows the coordinates of bridges in the Ukrainian Odessa region and in the Moldovan village of Giurgiuleşti, and promised to give “a serious response”. “The Republic of Moldova strongly condemns the recent statements of the Russian representative in Kherson. Our country was directly threatened. Such statements are totally unacceptable. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration urgently summons the head of the Russian diplomatic mission in the Republic of Moldova with a request to give appropriate explanations,” said a statement by Igor Zakharov, public relations adviser to the head of the ministry (quoted by TASS). Kherson and Crimean authorities reported damage to the Chongar Bridge this morning, June 22. Vladimir Saldo blamed Ukraine for the shelling of the bridge. He believes that Ukrainian servicemen struck the Chongar Bridge “at London’s behest.” Mr. Saldo promised Kyiv “a very serious response. He did not specify details of what exactly was supposed to be done, but pointed out that Russia knew the coordinates of the bridges in the Ukrainian Odessa Region and in the Moldovan village of Giurgiulesti.
