Speaker Igor Grosu said that there are cases in Chisinau when “persons with the diplomatic status of the Russian Federation promptly arrive on the left bank of the Dniester, in Transnistria, and are engaged there not only in diplomacy”. Regarding the possible expulsion of diplomats from the Russian Federation based on parity, the politician said that those who can make the relevant decisions are studying this topic, realitatea.md reports. “We have enough cases when persons with the diplomatic status of the Russian Federation, arrived in Chisinau, quickly get to the left bank of the Dniester, to Transnistria. Moreover, they are not just engaged in diplomacy there. We know about it and they know that we know about it. Now we will certainly assess the amount of work they have here and make a decision about it,” Grosu said in an interview with the Romanian media. Speaking about the timeframes, Grosu said, “When we are ready to accept it, we will announce it to public and also inform our Russian colleagues.” Moreover, he said that in Transnistria “there is a group of so-called diplomats who cannot be considered only diplomats, and their activity belongs to a completely different field”. “It belongs to the domain of the secret services and they are aware of it. We will have to assess each case separately. Yes, there have been cases when citizens from the Russian Federation who could not prove the purpose of their visit to Moldova were denied entry into the country. We have to apply special filters when entering the country for certain citizens and a certain group of visitors,” the official added.
