A plane from the Russian Federation has landed at the Chisinau International Airport this morning. The footage has been published in the Realitatea Telegram channel. “A plane from the Russian Federation has landed at the Chisinau airport this morning. The authorities in Chisinau send home dozens of Russian diplomats and technical staff of the Russian Federation embassy in Chisinau,” the message attached to the video stated. At the same time, several diplomats of the Russian Federation Embassy in Chisinau have arrived at the Chisinau International Airport to leave Moldova. They will leave on a charter flight scheduled to depart at 9:00 am Chisinau time. We would like to recall that the MFAEI decided that from 15 August 2023, the number of diplomatic posts in the Russian embassy will be reduced from 37 to 10. The decision is aimed at equalizing the number of Moldovan diplomatic staff in the Russian Federation. Currently, the Russian embassy in Chisinau has about 70 employees. Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu claimed that the main reason for the decision was the ongoing attempts to destabilize the internal situation in the country. “When a significant part of the diplomatic staff is oriented towards destabilizing our country and undertakes actions that do not belong to the standard diplomatic methods, we have come to a common decision that the number of accredited Russian diplomats in Moldova should be reduced in order to create a situation in which there will be fewer people capable of destabilizing the situation in our country,” Popescu said.
