The election campaign for the general local elections to be held on 5 November has started today.
According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), during the electoral campaign, candidates are prohibited to use administrative resources, including by launching or participating in the launching of infrastructure projects or purchases made from the national public budget, using equipment, funds, public property.
State and similar bodies/institutions may not transfer/provide public property or other services to electoral contestants, except on the basis of a contract and on equal terms.
Election contenders are prohibited to organize concerts, competitions, other events or demonstrations with the involvement of performers, artists, both from the country and abroad, to demonstrate slogans or other messages during them and (or) to distribute materials containing symbols of election contestants or other elements of identification, as well as to participate in these events for the purpose of political campaigning.
Election contestants may organize meetings with voters, and local public administration bodies are obliged to ensure the possibility of holding such meetings on equal terms.
At the same time, the CEC warns that candidates whose cases are pending before the District Election Councils will start campaigning on the day of registration.
