Moldova to Apply International Sanctions: Government Approves Mechanism for Imposing Restrictions

Home / Politics / Moldova to Apply International Sanctions: Government Approves Mechanism for Imposing Restrictions
Moldova officially joins international sanctions. The government today approved a mechanism for the implementation of restrictions. Thus, according to the draft, states, governments or individuals and organizations that committed genocide, crimes against humanity or peace, war crimes, torture or other cruel and inhuman treatment, including murder, kidnapping or arbitrary detention, will be subject to sanctions. “We have a very clear and efficient mechanism to implement restrictive measures. This means that the assets of those who are under international sanctions, which Moldova joins, will be immediately seized and subsequently confiscated in the interests of the interested parties,” Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru said. The measures will be applied in our country to both foreign and Moldovan citizens who violate the law and evade prosecution. In addition, persons who now or in the last ten years have cooperated with sanctioned persons will also come under this measure. This issue is to be discussed in the Parliament to come into force.
