Today, 1 December, Romania celebrates its National Day. On this occasion, Head of State Maia Sandu delivered a congratulatory message for the neighboring country.
The President thanked Romania for all the efforts and assistance provided to Moldova. “Romania is loved in Moldova for the constant assistance, but, above all, for what unites us - the language handed down with love by our ancestors, the history from which we learn many lessons of dignity, and the culture that builds the strongest bridges. Romania is loved here for what it does and also for what it is. And I know that Moldova is loved in Romania too.
Romania has loved us unconditionally for many years, without expecting laurels or benefits. Having true love, Romania did not shout about it, did not beat its chest, but showed it regardless of the circumstances. It gave us light when we needed it most, helped us modernize settlements, saved the lives of townspeople on the left bank of the Prut through the SMURD ambulance service, gave us first aid during the war, during the pandemic crisis. And the long list of assistance not only makes us deeply grateful, it gives us confidence that we can always count on Romania.
Romania is our advocate and the most ardent supporter of our European path. We look to it with hope in difficult times and it is our guide in our ambition for EU membership. And Romania looks to us with confidence that we will succeed on our chosen path.
We are linked by the past, but even more so by the future. We are united by the desire to build a fair and good society for all our citizens, to become stronger together. We have a common path – we belong in the European Union. We know that Romania stands with us, and this makes us confident about the future, no matter what serious challenges we face. Happy birthday to all those who feel Romanian, speak Romanian and love Romania!” Sandu stated.
