This is what she indicated in her last income declaration published in the summer. Anca Dragu has five apartments in Bucharest and one in Constanta, as well as a 109-m² house in the Romanian capital. She earned 457,590 Romanian lei, which is more than 1.77 million in Moldovan lei. In addition, Dragu has 20 bank accounts. The largest one holds 148,000 euros. Dragu graduated from the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies in 1996. She attended Georgetown University from 1999 to 2000. Dragu received her Master degree in Public Administration at the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration in 2007 and her PhD in Economics at the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies in 2010. From 1996 to 2001, Dragu was an economist at the National Bank of Romania before joining the IMF in Bucharest. In 2013, she became an economist at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs before becoming Governor of the European Investment Bank in Romania and, in November 2015, Minister of Public Finance in the government, a position she held until January 2017. Running for election as a politician in December 2020, she was elected to the Romanian Senate from the USR PLUS party. Elected Senate President in December 2020 with the support of an alliance between USR PLUS, PNL and UDMR, she retained the post until the alliance dissolved and she was replaced by the PNL candidate in November 2021. In 2021, USR PLUS became the Union for the Salvation of Romania (USR). Dragu was sworn in as a Moldovan citizen on 21 December 2023 before being appointed as the Moldova National Bank head for a seven-year term the following day.
