Chisinau International Airport remains in state ownership. Today the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) rejected the appeal of the Avia Invest Company. The court thus upheld the decision on the concession agreement cancellation. Chisinau Airport returned to state ownership at the beginning of March 2023. In 2013, it was concessioned for 49 years to Avia Invest, which agreed to invest 250 million euros in the air harbor. Later, the authorities requested the contract cancellation in court for non-compliance with obligations. The Chisinau Court of Appeal satisfied the claim of the state agency. Avia Invest appealed the decision. Last May, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office said that it had finalized the criminal case on the airport concession and sent it to court. The damage to the state was estimated at 392 million lei.
