The secretary of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Alexandr Berlinschii, resigned. The news was confirmed to TV8 by the press secretary of the election commission, Rodica Sirbu, and by Alexandr Berlinschii himself. Sirbu noted that his resignation will be considered by the parliament. Berlinschii wrote on his social media page that he resigned for personal reasons. “The reasons for my resignation are personal and relate to my personal life. It has been an honor and a challenge to serve as an election official for almost 10 years. During my time at the CEC, I have been fortunate to contribute to the integrity and transparency of electoral processes, working alongside professional and dedicated colleagues in public service. I have learnt a lot and gained valuable experience, for which I am grateful,” Berlinschii wrote. The official held the post of CEC secretary since October 2021. At a meeting on 1 October 2021, the members of the Central Election Commission elected Pavel Postica as vice-chair and Alexandr Berlinschii as secretary.
