The European identity of the Moldovan people and Moldova’s strategic goal of integration into the European Union will be reflected in the Constitution. The parliament’s website has published a draft law mentioning the amendments that will be made to the content of the country’s Constitution. The draft law states that there will be two new paragraphs in the Constitution preamble. One of them is “Confirmation of the European identity of the Moldovan people” and the other is “Declaration of the integration into the European Union as a strategic goal of the Republic of Moldova”. Moreover, another amendment will be the addition of a mentioning that the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU founding treaties will be established by the Parliament through an organic law. And the provisions of the EU founding treaties and other binding community regulations will take precedence over contrary provisions of domestic laws. This law will enter into force after the decision of the Constitutional Court to approve the results of the republican referendum and after publication in the Official Monitor.
