Viorel Doaga became acting head of the Customs Service. The decision was taken at a government meeting today. Previously, Doaga was deputy director of the Customs Service.
Meanwhile, the cabinet today also approved the resignation of the former director of the agency.
“I would like to express my gratitude to Igor Talmazan for his work in the Customs Service. It was quite a difficult period, connected with the beginning of the war in Ukraine and the subsequent crises on the borders of the Republic of Moldova. Moreover, during Talmazan’s leadership, a new Customs Code was elaborated. I wish him success,” Finance Minister Petru Rotaru said.
Igor Talmazan resigned after a high-profile corruption scandal at the Chisinau airport, in which inspectors of the agency were implicated.
