Veronica Dragalin argues that allegations made earlier by Infrastructure Minister Andrei Spinu, related to an investigation into how the airport tender is conducted, cannot hinder the investigation of the case. According to the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutors are obliged to respond to any suspicions of corruption. Dragalin noted that the criminal proceedings on the airport tender were initiated back in January, and the fact that this information later appeared in the press is not the prosecutor’s office problem. “Regarding the concession of the Chisinau International Airport, I understand that we have been criticized. I realize that there are different opinions, but I can assure you that the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office is investigating everything that is happening. The criminal proceedings started in January 2024. We, as prosecutors, do our job, we are obliged to investigate if there are suspicions. In many cases, the conclusion may be to refuse to initiate criminal proceedings because no violations have been found. But every time there is a suspicion, we are obliged to investigate, regardless of who it targets, whether that person is in the government or in the opposition. This is what we do and will continue to do,” Veronica Dragalina said. Earlier, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu was puzzled and concerned about the criminal proceedings initiated by the prosecutor’s office over the airport scandal, noting that investors are being scared away in this way.
