Twelve political parties signed the Pact for Europe on 26 May. The ceremony took place at the National Museum of History of Moldova. The ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) and Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban’s party National Alternative Movement (MAN) were among the signatories.
The signing of the pact was initiated by the Together (Împreună) bloc, consisting of the DA Platform, the League of Towns and Communes (LOC), the Party of Change and the Coalition for Unity and Welfare (CUB).
The signatories of the document undertake to uphold the rule of law, strengthen social cohesion and national solidarity in order to achieve the strategic goal of European integration, putting the public interest above personal and party interests.
The Pact also envisages condemnation of aggressive military actions and occupation of the territories of sovereign and independent states.

The signing of the Pact for Europe took place amid preparations for the referendum on Moldova’s accession to the European Union, which will be held simultaneously with the presidential election on 20 October.
