Upon completion of the mandate, Logsdon emphasized that the relations between the USA and Moldova are a partnership and the United States has never told Chisinau what to do. “You can only laugh at some of the things you read in the press, so I have to say that it was a real honor and pleasure for me to work with our colleagues in the Moldovan government. And I always emphasize that this is a partnership. We are not saying anything or asking people to do anything. Obviously, we have our own principles, our own concerns, our own goals, and of course we present them to any host government, including the Republic of Moldova. I am talking about the issues that we are concerned about, and we are looking for support from Moldova. But also in discussions about the current situation, we talk a lot about how we can help the Moldovan authorities,” the diplomat said in an interview with TV8. Kent D. Logsdon also said that during his mandate as ambassador to Chisinau, the USA had no “major disagreements” related to the decisions of the Moldovan authorities. “We believe that Moldova’s future is in Europe. Energy, self-sufficiency, dependence only on our own energy sources and on different types of energy - these are what we believe in. The rule of law, democracy - these are the areas on which we agree. We have definitely always agreed on important things,” Logsdon noted.
