The Government decided to start negotiations on a draft agreement with the US Government on the exchange and mutual protection of classified information. The negotiating delegation, consisting of representatives of the Information and Security Service and the Foreign Ministry, was also approved. It will be headed by SIS deputy director Victor Hodoroja, infotag.md reports. Moldovan Foreign Ministry Secretary General Mihai Mîțu said that the protection of information was one of the priority areas of state security. The signing of the agreement, he said, would ensure consistency, clarity and responsibility in the relations between the two countries in that field and ‘would increase the coherence of mutual measures to protect classified information’. At the end of May, Moldova signed an intergovernmental agreement on the exchange and mutual protection of classified information with Lithuania.
