The bilateral agreements on visa-free regime between Moldova and CIS countries continue to function. At this moment nothing threatens them.
The statements were made by the Foreign Ministry head, Mihail Popșoi, on the air of the program “New Week with Anatolie Golea” on TV8.
“This is a question I have answered repeatedly. It is often raised by Russian and pro-Russian propaganda. We have bilateral agreements with all CIS countries, except for two (Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan – editor’s note). Nothing threatens the visa-free regime,” the Foreign Minister said.
At the same time, Popșoi denied rumors about the imminent introduction of a visa regime with Russia.
“So far, at this stage, there is no such issue. There is no such problem. Now we have a valid agreement with the Russian Federation on visa-free regime. And nothing jeopardizes this agreement,” Popșoi concluded.
Last year, the Moldovan Parliament denounced more than 50 agreements within the CIS. The lawmakers also considered a draft law on the denunciation of the agreement on visa-free movement of citizens of the CIS member states.
At the time, Foreign Minister Mihai Popşoi said that the withdrawal from this agreement does not carry any risks for the citizens, as Moldova has bilateral agreements on visa-free regime with almost all CIS countries.
