The defense ministry chief stressed there was no immediate military danger for our country.
Nosatîi admitted that the National Army was understaffed, but Moldova had sufficient human potential to defend its national integrity and sovereignty.
Nosatîi also said that in the near future the national army would switch to the exclusive use of Western production technologies. The official claims that the switch is justified by the fact that the equipment left over from the Soviet Union no longer meets the current standards of security and military efficiency. According to him, the change will help improve the country’s defense capabilities before current threats.
In 2023, according to a study conducted by Global FirePower, Moldova will rank 143rd out of 145 states in the world in the ranking of military strength, overtaking only two states from West Africa and Asia - the Republic of Benin and Bhutan. The data also show that Moldova has 6,000 soldiers and 12,000 reservists. Minister Nosatîi did not confirm the latter figure.
