According to the President, Moscow is trying to achieve this goal by returning ‘thieves’ to the country’s leadership.
‘We are strong, and we have proven that over time. We are working on making our institutions stronger, and yes, it takes time. We have been more successful in some areas in terms of achievements and failures. In the judiciary, things have not worked out the way we wanted despite all the efforts we have made, but we still need to continue cleaning up the system so that we have honest people and good professionals. Other institutions modernized and are functioning faster. So, in that direction we will continue to work. Everything depends on our vigilance, the vigilance of citizens’, radiomoldova.md reports.
The President stressed the importance of citizens’ vigilance in consolidating democracy and expressed confidence that if the Moldovans wanted Moldova to become a part of the European Union, nothing could stop them, neither the Kremlin nor other external forces.
She also noted, that week she would attend a meeting of the European Policy Community to discuss, together with other countries facing similar challenges, the ways to jointly counter negative external influences.
‘When we pool resources, learn from each other and respond to these propaganda attacks together, it becomes easier,’ she concluded.
Being asked about the current relations with the Russian Federation, Maia Sandu said that all the discussions took place exclusively through the embassies of the two countries.
