Dodon noted that Maia Sandu again promises people ‘golden mountains’: increase of pensions, salaries, free food in schools and so on.
‘And what has prevented doing all of this or at least part of it until now? In 4 years of presidential mandate and 3 years of full power in the country. No one interfered,’ Igor Dodon, former head of state and Socialist party leader, said
‘They talk about wage growth of 35-40 per cent during her mandate. But inflation rose by 63% between 2020 and 2024. That means that teachers in 2024 became 20% poorer than in 2020, doctors 15% poorer, and so on. Bread went up by 52%, dairy products by 40%, even funeral services became 50% more expensive.
Pensioners have become 15-20% poorer. Last year they were supposed to have their pensions indexed by 30%, but they were indexed by only 15%, contrary to the law. And, by the way, we, the socialists, will give these 15% back to the elderly when we come to power.
Roads – twice as much money was allocated from the state budget as in 2016-2020, but half as many roads were built. This is the data from the National Bureau of Statistics. The public debt has increased, and so on. These are the true results of 4 years of Maia Sandu’s mandate,’ Dodon said.
