The Third Committee of the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on “combating the glorification of Nazism” proposed by Russia. The resolution was supported by 116 countries, 54 voted against it and 11 abstained. The countries that supported the resolution include Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Cuba, Serbia, Syria and others, reports deschide.md. Those who voted against include Moldova, Canada, USA, Ukraine, Japan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Georgia, Australia, Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, France, Finland, Czech Republic and Estonia. Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, China, Cuba, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, North Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mali, Nicaragua, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Serbia, South Africa, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Togo, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Venezuela and others were coauthors of the draft resolution. The 74-point document emphasizes the need to take measures to prevent the revision of the outcome of the Second World War. The authors of the resolution also call for a ban on “any solemn celebrations” of the Nazi regime and its allies.
