Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi announced this. It is still unknown how much the systems cost and when they will arrive in the country. Authorities say they need five more air defense systems in addition to the existing French radar, tv8.md reports. ‘We are talking about two systems. A surveillance system and a system to destroy drones. The system is quite complex and starts with artillery guns, machine guns and missiles of different types, it is multifunctional and requires serious investments. The process of identification and contracting has already taken place, the procurement and supply procedure is ongoing. We do not announce the details because this is technical data that the enemy can use against us,’ the Defense Ministry head said. At the moment, Moldova has 20 radar systems made back in the 1960s, which cannot detect modern drones. The Defense Ministry says that our country needs about six high-performance radars in total. In the last few days, four drones of the same type were detected in Criuleni, Causeni, Riscani and near a shopping mall in Chisinau. They did not contain explosives and were designed to divert air defense assets.
